Most of the people in front of my camera arrive nervous, convinced they're "not photogenic". Within minutes the room feels lighter. By the end of the session, they're often surprised at how much they like the results. No filters. No fakery. Just enough time, calm direction, and a few quiet laughs along the way.
"I hate having my photo taken."
Good. So did most of my favourite clients.
"I'm not photogenic."
Photogenic is a feeling, not a face.
"I never know what to do with my hands."
You won't have to. I direct every frame.
"The last shoot, I cringed at every photo."
Not this one. We review the screen together as we shoot.
Nervous, unsure, certain you're "not the type"? Even better. The portraits I'm proudest of belong to people who arrived saying those exact words.
You arrive nervous, and that's okay. We'll have tea, settle in, and chat for a few minutes before you ever look at the lens. By the time we start, you'll know what to wear, where to stand, and exactly what's coming next.
From the first frame to the last, you'll have proper direction. No "just be yourself". No silent stares from behind the camera. By the time we've shot three or four frames, you've already forgotten the camera is there. That's when the photographs start looking like you.
I'm Jill, a portrait and editorial photographer based in Enfield, Co. Meath. For nearly two decades, the most rewarding part of the work has been the same thing: watching someone walk into the studio bracing for impact, and walk out lighter than they came in.
I'm fully present at every session, from the first hello to the final image. I direct every frame, I read the room, and I never leave you guessing what to do next. The way I see it, my job isn't really to take a photo. It's to give you one of yourself you'll genuinely want to use.
Daylight where it matters, professional lighting where it doesn't. A private dressing area with hair and make-up mirrors. And a viewing screen where we choose your favourites together, over a cup of tea, before you leave.
Pick whichever way works best for you, phone, WhatsApp, video call, or email. I come back to every enquiry personally, usually within a few hours.
