This isn't a "didn't win" post. This is a "finally saw myself clearly" post.
I haven't had a minute to sit down and write a follow-up, honestly, because you have been keeping me beautifully busy doing what I love most: being behind the camera, empowering incredible people, and watching them step into their own spotlight.
But I've been reflecting. And here's what entering the County Kildare Chamber Awards really meant for me.
Was it incredible to be shortlisted in four categories? Absolutely.
Was it disappointing not to hear my name called on the night? Not for a second.
Because the truth is, I had already won.
I won the moment I stepped out of my comfort zone.
I won the day I sat down and filled in the entry form, instead of telling myself I wasn't ready.
I won when I stopped playing small.
I won when I decided to stand where I have helped so many other people stand: in the light, unapologetically seen.
For eighteen years, I've spent my working days empowering people in front of my lens to feel worthy, confident, and strong. Founders. Mothers. Business owners. Women who arrived at my studio convinced they weren't photogenic and walked out with a portrait they couldn't stop looking at.
And this time? It was my turn to do it for myself.
The real prize wasn't a trophy. It was clarity. Confidence. A whole new perspective on the business I've built with my heart and soul.
What being shortlisted actually gave me.
It gave me four things a trophy never could:
- Clarity, about what my business is, who it serves, and why it matters.
- Confidence, the kind that comes from putting your name forward and surviving the wait.
- Growth, new connections, new conversations, new doors I didn't know were there.
- Perspective, on the work I do, the clients I serve, and the version of me I want to keep becoming.
And yes, I'm already excited for the next set of awards.
Because putting yourself forward is powerful. It fuels growth, courage, and accountability. It reminds you of who you are and who you're becoming. It tells the people watching you exactly what kind of business owner you've decided to be.
If you're waiting for the "right moment"…
Stop waiting.
Get out of your own way.
Step into the spotlight. The room won't always feel ready for you, and you won't always feel ready for the room. Go anyway.
Submit the application. Pitch yourself for the panel. Put your name on the speaker list. Book the proper headshot for your LinkedIn (yes, that's a hint, my headshot sessions are right here). Whatever the version of "stepping out" looks like for you this year, do that.
It was never just about winning. It was about being seen.

Thank you for every enquiry, every booking, and every message of support after the awards night. The "go big or go home" mindset has opened so many doors already, and trust me, there is a lot in the pipeline.
Huge congratulations to all the winners on the night, including Maureen McCowen, turnua, Killashee Hotel, and Ad Vantage Media. And a special shoutout to the County Kildare Chamber, networking, community and connection genuinely matter, and I'm proud to be a member.
Here's to growth. To courage. To doing the scary thing anyway.
The best is only beginning.
